After acquiring land, it can be a challenge to know how to care for it. The land sustains so much life for countless species, and providing proper land management is an important responsibility. That’s where AFM comes in. We want to be your trusted partner who dreams with you about what is possible on your property and walks you through the steps to make it a reality. Our commitment to sustainability and stewardship means we will treat your property like it’s our own, and we follow all applicable Best Management Practices (BMPs), Forest Practice rules, Safe Harbor Agreements, and all other state and federal requirements to ensure that your land or investment remains healthy and thriving for generations.
The land and forest management experts in AFM’s Texas Region are local specialists with deep knowledge of the area’s climate, tree species, soil types, vegetation, wildlife, reforestation, and more. As such, they are equipped to help you with the goals and objectives for your property and offer these region-specific services:
- Timber Sales: Our foresters manage the full timber sale process, including harvest layout, sale marketing, contract oversight, and administration. With deep knowledge of local markets, we ensure that each client receives full value for harvested timber, all the while promoting long-term forest health and meeting your land objectives.
- Hunting Lease and Wildlife Management: We can assist landowners in managing their hunting lease program, design custom wildlife management plans for both game and non-game species, as well as manage Threatened and Endangered Species. Our team has years of experience providing landowners with the necessary tools to increase the quality of their hunting as well as increase recreational lease revenue. Let us design a custom plan that is right for you.
- Reforestation: Our team can develop site-specific planting prescriptions, coordinate site prep, and oversee planting activities. Reforestation can be completed after a timber harvest, for wildlife, or when converting open land into a forest.
- Forest Management Plans: We create customized forest management plans. These plans include property descriptions, maps, management prescriptions, and activity timelines. Plans can also be tailored to meet state or county tax reduction requirements.
- Forest Certification: We assist landowners in obtaining and maintaining third-party certifications, such as FSC and SFI, helping improve market access and demonstrate sustainable management.
