Why did you pursue a career in forestry?
From an early age, my parents were intentional about immersing my brother and me in nature. Each year, we made it a point to explore the beauty of national parks, forests, and monuments during spring breaks and summer vacations. These weren’t just getaways; they were hands-on lessons in camping, hiking, and the art of truly appreciating nature. In the fall, we’d continue the tradition, venturing into state parks to reconnect with the outdoors.

As I grew older, I developed an awareness of the critical need for effective forest management, especially in the face of widespread wildfires and ongoing forest health challenges across the nation. This interest led me to pursue a degree in forestry. During my time in the pinewoods of East Texas, my passion for forestry deepened, and my commitment to advancing sustainable forest management practices continued to drive my academic and professional journey.

What do you like the most about your role with AFM?
AFM has a significant footprint across the United States, managing millions of acres spanning nearly every forest type. Being part of such a broad and diverse organization has given me the opportunity to build strong professional relationships, not only within my district and region, but also with forestry professionals across the country.
