15,000 acres of forestland in Whatcom County, Washington. Deer, elk, and bears are frequently spotted on the property.


Motorized Recreation Access - SOLD OUT


Motorized Recreation Access permits allow access for a range of outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, bicycling, sightseeing, photography – activities that are not allowed are motorcycling, ATVing, snowmobiling and target shooting.


The motorized recreation access program requires a permit for each family, with family defined for the purposes of this permit as married spouses and their children under 19 years of age. Every person in a vehicle entering the property must have a permit or be named on their parent’s permit, even if they are not driving. A limited number of permits are available.


Access is open from January 1st to December 31st except July 3rd, 4th and 5th. Access is allowed from 1 and 1/2 hours before sun­rise to 1 and 1/2 hours after sunset through the recreation gates identified on the map. Seasonal closures are dependent on weather and may apply at different times of the year. See web site home page for closure alerts.


Firewood cutting is allowed from designated areas between January 1st and April 14th and again from October 16th through December 31st. Up to two cords of wood are allowed annually per permit if it is available. Maps for firewood units are on line. Please see Rules & Regulations for complete detailed information.


Each permit is valid for only one vehicle. One vehicle windshield tag and one rear view mirror tag is included when the permit is purchased. Permit holders are expected to have both displayed in their vehicles when on the property. See the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ tab) for details.


Non-motorized Recreation Access - $75 per permit

Firewood


Purchase of a Motorized Recreation Access permit allows cutting of firewood when it is available.


Up to 2 cords of firewood may be cut annually from January 1 to April 14 and from October 16 to December 31 and it may be used for personal use only. Firewood must be cut from designated areas and removed in firewood lengths.


A cord of firewood measures 4’ x 4’ x 8’ or 128 cubic feet. A quarter cord measures 4’ x 4’ x 2’ or 32 cubic feet of wood.


Firewood may not be gathered outside the regular firewood season or from outside designated areas. Winching wood out of units, use of firewood splitters or commercial size vehicles are prohibited. Cutting snags, buckskin logs, old growth logs and cedar is prohibited. Maps of firewood areas are available on line.


Game Harvest Card
