Bill Haslam, District Manager, started his career in 2003. He has a Bachelor of the Arts and a Master's in Finance from the University of Massachusetts, and he his a Licensed Professional Forester in Maine.

Why did you pursue a career in forestry?
I found forestry after having worked in another field in my 20s. During that time, I spent all my spare time outdoors, even hiking the Appalachian Trail. When I became exposed to forestry and the idea that a job could challenge you to manage a forest for specific outcomes based on the attributes of the trees involved, and I could spend a large part of my work life outside, I found a way to forestry.

What do you like the most about your role with AFM?
I like figuring out how to help clients manage their land, especially when we achieve the outcomes they hoped for. Even better when we exceed their expectations. Of course, I also love to be outside in any kind of weather. Well, not extreme windstorms, but almost every kind of weather.
