Wesley Johnson

Wesley Johnson, Resource Planning Manager, brings ten years of experience to his role. He has a Bachelor of Science in Forest Resource Management and a Master of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Wesley is a member of the Virginia Forestry Association and the Society of American Foresters.

Why did you pursue a career in forestry? Forestry was first attractive to me because it was hands-on and allowed me to work outside in unique environments. Even though I now work in a role that is entirely inside, forestry remains interesting due to the dynamic resource we manage: forests. They are such special ecosystems, and wood, the commodity we endeavor to steward and create at sustainable levels, is important for society.

What do you like the most about your role with AFM? My favorite part of my role is the people I have the opportunity to work with. I’m privileged to be able to interact with landowners, investors, other forest industry people, and AFM staff located across the country. Forestry is full of wonderful people, and AFM has them in great abundance.
