Travis Taylor

Travis Taylor, Area Manager in Chehalis, Washington, started his career in 2019. He has an AAS degree in Natural Resources/Forestry Technician from Grays Harbor College, and he is a member of the Washington Farm Forestry Association and the Society of American Foresters. Travis is also a Washington Contract Loggers Association Master Logger and a Licensed Pesticide Applicator. 

Why did you pursue a career in forestry? 

A lot of what influenced my decision to pursue forestry came from working on the timberlands my family owned while growing up. A lot of hours after school and on weekends were spent working on the property, treating Scotch Broom, planting trees, enjoying the wildlife, and watching the landscape develop. Later on, I was able to job shadow a couple of working foresters and see exactly what they did in the field. The combination of being outside, having a hand in managing a property to meet a landowner’s goals, and seeing the results of your efforts over time seemed very rewarding to me.

 What do you like the most about your role with AFM?

What I enjoy most about my role here is the variety of goals and objectives we are able to achieve for our clients. New challenges arise that require new ideas to solve, and being able to work with a team on how to find these answers is very gratifying.
