Steven Cockrell, District Manager in Edgefield, SC, has 28 years of forestry experience. He has an Associate of Science in Forest Technology from Horry-Georgetown Technical College. Steven is a Registered Forester in Georgia and South Carolina and a Certified Tree Farm Inspector. In South Carolina, Steven is a Prescribed Fire Manager, Top Logger Certified, and Commercial Pesticide Applicator.

Why did you pursue a career in forestry?
I chose my career in forestry as I am truly in love with the outdoors. I am an avid hunter and fisherman. There is no better place to feel God’s grace than watching a sunrise in the woods or on the water. What better way to be outdoors than forestry? I felt that this career was the right move for me to pursue with my love of the outdoors. I enjoy my job and the people I work with, so I don’t consider it a job but rather a blessing!

What do you like the most about your role with AFM?
My favorite part of AFM is interacting with people and clients. I always enjoy the fellowship and sharing a good laugh. I also love helping clients achieve their goals and see the transformations of their land and timber. I strive to treat every client's property as if it were my own.
