Why did you pursue a career in forestry? I was 1.5 years into an engineering degree and looking for an elective class that was interesting. I took Forestry 100: Introductory to Forestry and fell in love with the idea of becoming a forester. I grew up hunting and running in the woods as a kid, and found the major to be the shoe that fit perfectly into the work career I wanted to pursue. That summer, I officially changed majors and graduated with a BS in Forest Resource Management.
What do you like the most about your role with AFM? I like the variety most. One day, I may be working on an investment property, and the next, I'm meeting a landowner with 50 acres. I may be looking at property to list for sale, writing a management plan, or assessing timber sale viability. I've been fortunate to travel to many states and see all the different forest types and operations. You never know what tomorrow might bring.
