Joe Karels

Joe Karels, Area Manager in Lynn Haven, Florida, has 11 years of experience. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Resource Management from the University of Florida. Joe is also a Prescribed Burn Manager, a Registered Forester in Alabama, an American Tree Farm Inspector, and a member of the Florida Forestry Association.

Why did you pursue a career in forestry? My dad was a forester. I grew up doing prescribed burning and timber marking/cruising with him, and I knew from an early age that forestry is what I wanted to do.

What do you like the most about your role with AFM? The variety of the work we do. From seedling to maturity, we get to help grow and dictate the landscape of the forest. Additionally, I enjoy just being outdoors among the trees and wildlife daily.
