Jason B. Alexander, District Manager in Sandersville, Georgia, started his career in 2002. Why did you pursue a career in forestry? Like many foresters, I grew up hunting, fishing, camping, and spending as much time as possible outdoors. I always had a strong connection to nature, but what really sealed my fate was a high school job working in a mail distribution warehouse. Spending hours indoors without windows made me realize just how important being outside was to me. That experience confirmed that I wanted a career where I could be active, work with my hands, and contribute to the stewardship of natural resources.

What do you like the most about your role with AFM? What I enjoy most about my role with AFM is the variety and the opportunity to work with people who truly care about their land. In the forest industry, no two days are ever the same. One day, I might be working with a family that has owned and cherished their land for generations, helping them continue that legacy. The next day, I could be guiding a first-time landowner as they begin to develop a long-term vision for their property. It's rewarding to help people make informed decisions that support both their personal goals and sustainable forest management.
