Why did you pursue a career in forestry? I chose to develop a career in forestry initially from a love of the outdoors. I wanted to be able to spend time outside and consider options such as wildlife management, hydrology, wetland science, or marine biology. I realized eventually that my passion was for the woods, and I was tired of seeing how often wildfires ravaged my home state of Washington. I wanted to be able to make a difference in how our forests are managed and to have a positive impact on our environment.
What do you like the most about your role with AFM? The most rewarding part of my current role is helping our foresters execute planned operations to fulfill the goals of the clients. I enjoy working with our staff, clients, and contractors to positively impact the lands we are hired to manage, and get an immense amount of gratification when I revisit old projects to see the results of our work.
