Dwight Hilton, District Manager, started his career in 2019. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from NC State, and he is an FAA Part 107 drone pilot.
Why did you pursue a career in forestry?
I got into forestry for a lot of the same reasons most people in our field do: I just enjoyed being outdoors. Growing up, I spent a lot of time outside, and over the years, that turned into a deeper appreciation for how everything in the woods fits together. I started to see it not just as one big landscape, but as a mix of ecosystems and individual species all working together. Forestry lets me experience that variety every day, while also making sure that we are taking care of the land and keeping it healthy for future generations.
What do you like about your role with AFM?
My favorite thing about my role at AFM is the variety that I see every day. Each day brings unique challenges and situations, and I am fortunate to be in a position with a company that allows me to make decisions with my team to tackle those challenges and come up with solutions that are equally unique.
