Timber Cruising and Inventory

Our skilled, full-time cruisers can conduct a wide variety of cruise designs, specific to each client’s needs.

Conducting large-scale forest inventories with up-to-date, custom software with some level of stratification is really the most efficient means to conduct a property-wide inventory. Because we know that inventory information greatly impacts estimated land values and management strategies, we use built-in quality checks to assure accuracy.

All field data is collected with hand-held recorders, then the information is downloaded on-location to portable PC’s. Inventory results can be summarized by strata, tract or stand in hard-copy or common electronic formats. To verify accuracy, AFM’s practice is to internally audit 2-5 percent of the plot data.

One of the most important assurances is the full-time professionals AFM can offer with local experience, market knowledge and integrity.
